The ketogenic diet’s central premise is that by controlling the intake of carbs, the body will go into ketosis, a process during which a carb-starved body will burn fat as a primary source of fuel. When carbs are removed from a diet and kept at the lowest possible levels (anywhere between 20 g and 40 g per day), the body will start producing ketones as an alternative energy source (2). Ketones are produced from stored fat, which is the secret behind why the Keto diet is incredibly successful when it comes to weight loss and diabetes management.
To achieve the dietary balance needed for ketosis, it is necessary to reorganize the way we eat. On a ketogenic diet, the primary source of fuel for the body should be healthy fats, which can be found in dairy products, eggs, meat, and fish (3). Anywhere between 50% and 75% of the calories in your diet should come from healthy fats to provide ample caloric intake. Carb intake should not exceed 5% of total calories at any point, with the rest of your calories coming from proteins.
For those who are more physically active and are trying to build lean muscle mass, it might be necessary to increase your level of protein intake at the expense of fats in your diet. Keto a delicate balance. A single day of binging on carbs will take you out of ketosis, and you will have to restart the process all over.

What is Keto Body Tone?
Keto Tone is a weight loss supplement that claims to boost and mimic ketosis, a state where the body turns to fat as the primary source of fuel for its cells. Since ketosis is a natural process that happens only when the body is starved of carbs over several days, products like Keto Body Tone supplements use different ingredients to mimic ketosis in the short term and offer benefits similar to natural ketosis obtained via diet. Ketosis itself can’t be reached with a supplement, though, and that’s important to keep in mind. Keto Tone had its time in the spotlight by participating in Shark Tank.
One of the biggest challenges related to dietary ketosis is in the discipline that an individual needs to reach it. When you are trying to enter ketosis, you will need to keep your daily intake of carbs between 20 g and 40 g for a prolonged period before the body turns to burning fat instead of carbs. This process can be challenging for some people and often accompanied by annoying side effects like headaches, bad breath, and keto flu. Completely changing your relationships with food is a challenge in itself. That’s the primary reason why supplements with “miracle” claims are quite common nowadays.
The weight loss supplement Keto Tone uses ingredients such as Garcinia Cambogia and silicon dioxide to artificially create ketosis, which could lead to improved weight loss—and allow you to see the results faster. This is achieved by including exogenous ketones in the ingredients to reach ketosis faster and start burning fat for fuel. While it is impossible to replicate the long-term results of a ketogenic diet with a supplement, it is possible to achieve short term results that might boost your metabolism, help you lose weight faster, and burn fat.
As with all of our reviews, we have studied the ingredients in the Keto Tone supplement during the review process and tried to figure out whether this Shark Tank favorite can deliver on its claims and offer benefits to the consumers. Taking a look at the ingredient list, these are the main keto ingredients that have caught our eye:
- Garcinia Cambogia
- Lemon Extract
- A number of artificial fillers and additives
The overall composition of the Keto Tone supplement doesn’t reveal a lot at the first look. Still, one thing is quite apparent: Keto Tone is not a 100% natural supplement. It uses artificial ingredients. That’s not necessarily bad, per se, but we thought it was important to mention in this review. In the next section, we will try to explain how each of the ingredients works and what benefits they might offer.
How Does Keto Tone Work?
Keto Tone claims that their supplement formula can produce the same effects as the Keto diet when followed short-term without having to go through the hassle of changing your diet to full-on Keto. It is quite a strong claim, especially if we take into account that ketosis requires time and effort to trigger by diet. Here are the ingredients in Keto Tone and their potential benefits.
- Forskolin is a medicine used in traditional medicine and healing techniques of Southeastern Asia, which is derived and extracted from the roots of mint plants(4). The uses of forskolin have varied from region to region and century to century. Recently forskolin has been a popular inclusion in weight loss supplements due to claims that it can improve the rate at which you lose weight. There is little clinical evidence that forskolin can deliver on those claims, so take this one with a grain of salt. The claim seems too good to be true.
- Garcinia cambogia is an ingredient derived from fruit rinds and one of the most prevalent compounds in keto supplements. Keto Tone uses garcinia Cambogia since it is rich in hydroxycitric acid (HCA), a proven weight loss and fat-burning compound(5). It is important to note that the direct impact of this compound on weight loss might not be huge, but there are other ways that it contributes to weight loss. Combing through hundreds of customer reviews, we did find that Keto Tone seems to help with appetite control and controlling cravings, which is essential to long term weight loss.
- Lemon extract is a bit of surprise in Keto Tone since it is primarily used for treating scurvy and kidney stones. The only logical explanation for this would be that Keto Tone is trying to stimulate the bladder and increase the production of urine to help prevent water weight and make a small contribution to overall weight loss.
Can Keto Tone Deliver on its Claims?
This point is where we ran into some trouble. We didn’t expect Keto Tone to be so full of artificial ingredients, especially if we take into consideration that the current trends emphasize the use of all-natural products that produce amazing results while taking care of your long-term health. For a product that appeared on Shark Tank, we expected more from Keto Tone.
Just looking at all the ingredients, it is difficult to see how Keto Tone would be able to replicate the benefits of a ketogenic diet, regardless of what the customer reviews and Shark Tank testimonials say.
Keto Tone might be a useful supplement to accompany a change in diet and lifestyle to maximize the effect. If your primary goal is to burn fat and lose weight, Keto Tone alone will not be able to provide you ketones you need, though. By changing your food habits and focusing on a steady workout regiment, you would achieve much better results.
Still, there is something to be said for products that fully meet our expectations and live up to their claims, and those that don’t, but still provide some value to their consumers. Keto Tone, we believe, falls into the second group. Keto products that could offer some value to potential consumers but should be purchased with care and carefully managed expectations.
Is Keto Tone Safe?
Keto Tone is safe for human consumption. The main ingredients of this keto supplement have been thoroughly tested and do not pose a health hazard to humans. It is essential to follow the dosage instructions and carefully read the table of contents on the packaging. Make sure that you are taking appropriate doses. If you identify any ingredients that you might be allergic to, it is best to steer clear of Keto Tone.
If you have any preexisting conditions or health problems that might interfere with you taking this weight loss supplement, it is best to consult with your physician before you start taking it. All decisions in regards to your health should be made with advice from professionals.
This is a tough one. On the one hand, Keto Tone does have some ingredients that have been proven to produce ketones, but the formula does not seem strong enough to support all of the claims that Keto Tone is making.
The absence of BHB is especially strange since it is probably the most popular source of ketones used in these types of supplements. Another concern is the inclusion of artificial fillers and additives in the supplement. This issue is usually a sign of a low-quality supplement, cutting corners and trying to save a few bucks instead of providing the best possible supplement to customers.
For all those reasons, we find it difficult to recommend Keto Tone as the go-to keto supplement. During our review, we have discovered several flaws that are not necessarily present in competing brands. We don’t believe that Keto Tone is a bad supplement or that doesn’t offer any benefits, but rather that during the review of other products, we have seen superior products on the market.
All that aside, we believe that Keto Tone might be able to provide some value to individuals that are starting their keto journey. During the first few weeks on a keto diet, it is normal to experience side effects such as keto flu or intense cravings. Keto Tone might be able to offer some relief in this area–but as a standalone supplement, we can’t recommend it.
